MANNIKIN-TOWN IN VIRGINIA

I have Huguenot ancestors. The history of these refugees is quite astounding. Their has been many people who claim they are Native America through their Huguenot ancestor. One of my surname is Agee. Hezekiah Agee moved from Buckingham, Virginia to Kanawha County in 1832. He was a Methodist Pastor at the chapel that he had built.

To the Grave and Beyond:

excerpt:

"Death As a Beginning: In West Africa, dying is not seen as a tragedy, but rather as a rite of passage or initiation. Birth, death and rebirth are on a continuum and the spirit is preserved eternally. If given a proper funeral, the deceased will become an ancestor. Ancestors are regarded as the most powerful members of society. In traditional West African cultures, ancestor worship is a daily practice. The dead are revered and honored through sacrifice, annual festivals and personal worship."

Native American Study

excerpt:

"Frank C. Arnett, M.D., of the University of Texas-Houston Medical School, and his colleagues there and at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, and the Choctaw Nation Hospital, Talahina, Okla., used genetic markers and epidemiology to identify chromosomal areas linked to scleroderma in a Choctaw population with a known high prevalence of the disease. Working with 18 Choctaw scleroderma patients and 77 healthy Choctaw individuals, the scientists analyzed sites on human chromosomes 15q and 2q that corresponded to locations identified in the scleroderma mouse models."

Interview with Manuel Mira

The Portuguese Making of America by Manuel Mira

In the 1500's, The Portuguese were the seafaring explorers who made claims to far away lands. Their arrival in America is told by Manuel Mira in his book.

Melungeon Lobby

This event happened 7 years ago. I posted the translation of the article...why didn't you complaining people not speak up at the time, in 2000? All of the major squawkers on today's Melungeon List was subscribed to the list when this was posted in 2000.

Turkey is an ally of America and their people should be treated with the respect that is due to them.

Whether Melungeon or not, my Baber history goes back to the Ottoman Empire.

Excerpt from Baber "Then one day my grandma gave the portrait of "Baber" to my mother. My mother placed the portrait on our dining room wall. When anyone asked who he was, she would reply, "Baber" and that he was an Indian, who came from India."

My Baber ancestors landed in Barbados before coming to America. Then Baber married into the Tide Water Indians, this was many centuries ago.

I suggest that some of you read a few books about the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Empire controlled vast lands as well as millions of diverse peoples of all races and religions.

Black Indian List Prove Helpful by Brent Kennedy

A Legacy of Two Cities :

Cesme, Turkey and Wise, Virginia

"The interest in establishing a sister city kinship came into being partly because of the interest and research of former Wise College professor Brent Kennedy and the Melungeon Research Team. Dr. Kennedy's fourteen years of research reveals that Turks, Portuguese, and other people of Mediterranean descent existed in the earliest settlements in the Appalachian mountains of Southwest Virginia, Eastern Kentucky, East Tennessee, and western North Carolina."

The Melungeons: Genetic, Linguistic, and Historic Evidence of Their Turkish Roots

By Mehmet Cakir

Excerpt:

"Hundreds of years ago, there were tales of a tri-racial people different from others. This tri-racial group of people was simply called mysterious. In eighteenth century Virginia this mysterious group was pushed and forced further west, higher up in the mountains as Scotch, Irish, English and other settlers moved into the area where the mysterious people had been living for centuries."

The Ballad of Brent Kennedy

Melungeon List Post

January 11, 2008

May God have mercy on Mr. Don Collins and "Saint" Anonymous....this poem is full of hate, racism and most of all, it's Anti-American. This poem, in the eyes of the world shows all that we have a long journey ahead in conquering worldwide racism and inhumanity.

Mr. Don Collins, stop throwing stones at other people who have ancestors who came to America in the pre-colonial era. Who gave you the knowledge and the right to judge every one's genetic makeup? Instead of poking fun at those who are disabled, you might try volunteering at your local hospital....

Many folks claim that the Melungeon List is nothing more than a breeding ground for unsavory characters who constantly interfere with genuine Appalachian researchers. One may refer to the Melungeon List as documented proof.

Also, my friend Brent Kennedy's mind and his soul are functioning at 100% capcity.

'Manuel Mira is a world known author of several books about the Portuguese and their role in shaping America's early history. Manuel Mira was born in Portugal and now he lives in America's Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina. Throughout his life, Manuel has lived on three continents, which has resulted in a unique understanding of the diverse forgotten groups of people that the Portuguese blended in with around the world. His dedication to history and research has uncovered long forgotten facts about early American and Portuguese history. His research also reveals facts and clues about the mysterious Melungeons who live in America's Southeast for centuries."
