Melungeons, history, genealogy, research, articles: "Brent Kennedy been moved from the intensive care unit, and is now in a private rehab facility. His wife Robyn reports that his condition continues to improve, and wishes to thank everyone for their support and prayers during this difficult time.
Brent suffered a relatively mild stroke on December 13, but was released from the hospital on December 16. He suffered a brain hemorrhage the following day.
Brent Kennedy is the author of The Melungeons: The Resurrection of a Proud People. He is the founder of the Melungeon Research Committee and one of the founding members of the Melungeon Heritage Association.
For obvious reasons, visitation is still restricted to Brent's immediate family, but you can send cards and letters to Brent in care of MHA, and we will forward them to Brent and his family on a regular basis. Please send cards and letters to:
