Hello,
I am not Melungeon, but am studying American ancestry for a book project involving culture and music.
Anyway, I believe the lady pictured is identified as "Helen Campbell" but perhaps not. Whoever she is, the lady in the photo looks so much like Gladys Presley {Elvis's mother, with very, VERY strongly suggestive melungeon roots} that I nearly jumped out of my skin! I wish I could share pictures, but I don't have the scanner working right now. It's enough to give one shivers.

This is facinating. The lady in the photo is SJ Arthur, president of The Melungeon Hertiage Association, also know as MHA.
If you ever get the picture....please let us know!!
You can meet SJ Arthur at one of the annual gatherings, the event is usually the last week in June.
