Melungeons visit Turks in New York

"Özdoğan explained that 20,000 Ottoman sailors were martyred in the 1571 naval war with Venetian sailors and 10,000 others were taken as prisoners. Some of these prisoners were then taken to the American continent by Spanish sailors. Özdoğan noted that DNA studies indicate a similarity between melungeons and Anatolian Turks.
