Update on Brent Kennedy February 23, 2006

I know it has been a very long time since I have sent out an email. I have been out of town and not able to have access to my distribution lists. Sorry to keep you hanging. Today Robyn told me that they have scheduled to take Brent to the Shepherd's Center in Atlanta on Monday, February 27th. This is good news as the Shepherd Center is THE center for brain stem injury rehab. At this time there is no definite length of time that Brent is scheduled to be in Atlanta, it will depend on his progress. Also, rest assured that Robyn will be surrounded by family and close friends. Robyn's brother lives in Atlanta with his wife and two sons and Robyn has several lifelong close friends that live in Atlanta. Ryan should be able to get good flights from Boston to Atlanta to make his visits easier. All in all, this is a very good next step. Since I last wrote, Brent has continued to make very small continual improvements. He now tracks objects with his eyes and has developed quite an'expressive' eyebrow movement. Brent is obviously working very hard and so we CANNOT give up on him. We know our prayers and petitions are working, so please keep Brent in your prayers and keep the positive thoughts.

Best to each of you.
Liza

    Brent,
I hope this post will be read by you somehow. I want to thank you for your research on Melungeon ancestry. I began my quest for self understanding through tracing my family heritage. I came across your book, freshly written by you. It was a pure 'accident' that I found it. I had no knowledge of Melungeon ancestry-in fact I had very little knowledge of my father's side of the family. It was 1996 when I found your book. I began my research in 1991. Since then, through the knowledge that I have gained from your book, an adopted niece has found a greater understanding of herself. I have gained greater understanding of the Nature vs Nurture argument. I am a Sizemore. Best regards Brent and I will keep your good health in my thoughts and prayers. You have contributed more than you know.
