TIRAH Wins Major Census Battle in Washington, D.C.
'Four year battle comes to an end; multiracial category was rejected today by the OMB and other government agencies. Multiracial will not appear in the 2000 census. Native Americans did get approval of their new 'American Indian' designation. I am extremely pleased with the outcome and attribute our success to the 'Mulatto Extirpation' theme, the 'Mongrel' epithet and Dr. Plecker. This is a very powerful message and definitely got the attention of Washington. Thanks for your support and added web page coverage at a critical time. I am confident now that we can win our fight and restore the heritage and history of our people.'"
